Shrill
(shrĭl) [adjective] -
1. High pitched and piercing in sound quality. 2. Betraying some strong emotion or attitude in an exaggerated amount.
3. A sound insisted upon being heard. Shrill music...
The Shrill is a rock band in the purest sense: four members working with the rudimentary instruments of rock in order to create a unique sound, write great albums, and exhibit awesome musicianship. Hailing from different regions of the country, Andrew Freeman (Lead Vocals), Zak St. John (Drums, Percussion), Brandon Davar (Guitars, Backing Vocals), and Harry Ostrem (Bass, Backing Vocals) have joined together in Los Angeles with the goal of being a band that is comprised of irreplaceable parts. The Sunset Strip music scene is a microcosm of the confusion that surrounds rock bands in an era where albums are seldom bought, and everything has seemingly been done with a guitar. The members of The Shrill have used this reality to motivate the creation of their music and its representation in a live setting. The Shrill strive to fully engage its audience, holding fast to the principle of doing it their own way.

    Andrew Freeman : lead vocals
Andrew Freeman lives and breathes music. Born and raised in New York, a fixture on the music scene, playing anywhere and everywhere, crafting his art.
Performing double duty as a Vocalist and Guitarist, Andrew has played for a number of international recording artists and alongside many legendary musicians. Most notably for the punk rock group, The Offspring. Freeman has made several television appearances in the US, Europe, South America and Asia, including a feature on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
After meeting and performing an impromptu gig with Shrill Drummer, Zak St. John in Hollywood, CA, the two formed a tight working relationship that eventually brought Freeman to be the vocalist of The Shrill. A dynamic and charismatic frontman, he brings the already eclectic sound of The Shrill to another level.

Brandon Davar : guitar, vocals
Brandon Davar is the tallest member of The Shrill; therefore, he is more intelligent than all the other members in the band. With that being said, he is also the youngest member, which means he will live longer than the others too. Born and raised in Southern California, Brandon developed a strong appreciation for music passed down from his family for generations. His mother's three sisters were part of the successful singing group, "The Star Sisters," back in the 1960's. His mother, Kristi Davar, is a very accomplished dancer/choreographer. She toured the world with "The Dancin' Machine" back in the mid 1970's. Being raised in the world of entertainment, Brandon was sure to follow in his family's footsteps. Ever since the age of 5, Brandon studied dance, singing, and acting extensively. He graduated from the American Musical and Dramatics Academy of Los Angeles in 2006 to pursue his long awaited acting career.
A late bloomer for rock and roll, Brandon had first picked up the guitar at the age of fifteen. Playing in several different bands throughout high school and college, Brandon would soon realize that music was the best way to fulfill his artistic needs. He realized that he would never have to wait on casting directors, agents, production companies, just to say that he is hired for a silly commercial that requires no acting talent at all. Instead, he could play his own music any day of the week, anywhere he liked. Through many lineup changes and band name changes, Brandon eventually found the right pieces and players of what is now, The Shrill (with the help of others in the band of course). Mixing his theatrical training and experience into his music has been what he focuses his songwriting, live performance, guitar playing, and style on most. Keeping a constant evolutionary vision throughout the years with his music, Brandon Davar will continue to grow mentally, emotionally, and artistically with The Shrill.

Harry Ostrem : bass, vocals
From the time Harry Ostrem picked up a bass, he was destined for rock and roll glory. Following a premature cesarean birth, Harry quickly discovered that he had an aptitude for the fine arts. His first bronze sculpture was crafted at the tender age of 8 months under the cool shade of Mt Olympus. As if on cue, Harry reached out his hands, snagged a bushel of wheat and brought it back home to Montana, where he soon established it as the most stable cash crop of the Northern Plains states. While restructuring the agricultural landscape of the United States, Harry wasted no time in becoming the most sought after bass player in the entire country during his prepubescent and adolescent years. Harry discovered the rich nature of all styles of music during his tenure at Gonzaga University, and engrossed himself in not only his favorite rock bands of yesteryear (such as Rush and Steely Dan), but also into the rich worlds of jazz and funk.
After out-growing the musical and professional possibilities of Spokane, WA, Harry set his sights on the "City of Angels." Harry moved to LA with the sole purpose of surrounding himself with the best possible players, improving his own musical skill set, and creating a band and sound that would become timeless. Through trial and error, Harry finally arrived and found a home with The Shrill. By no means prisoner to a rock and roll archetype, Harry has also found time to pursue his passion for science and social work. When not wowing crowds with his musical exploits in The Shrill, Harry can be found in various medical labs at USC and UCLA establishing medical practices that will inevitably change the way we look at modern day medicine. It should also be noted that all rumors of Harry being involved with socialist political movements in Latin America during the 1980’s are completely unfounded.
